For those folks that followed our travel adventures to Newfoundland,
you will remember we fell in love with the little outport of Rose Blanche and
likewise the little blue cottage by the sea, named Katie-Lew. This link to "Travelling with Steve and Marlene" will take you to that place and time: http://travellingwithsteveandmarlene.blogspot.ca/2017/06/katie-lew-little-blue-cottage-by-sea.html
Since then, we have reflected back on our offer to purchase, and know that even though the idea of purchasing a cottage in Newfoundland doesn't make sense, we would have regretted not doing so.
A couple of weeks ago, we prepared the necessary documentation for the Lawyer to move forward with the conveyance of the cottage and an adjacent piece of property that Marlene has named the Rocky Shore.
The Rocky Shore (in the foreground below) juts out into the Cove, and at low tide,
holds back the water of Speckledback Pond. In bygone eras, the kids of Parsons Point used
to trap little speckle-backed fish there, and so it was named. When the average
eye looks at the Rocky Shore, it is just as the name suggests, however in years
gone by, there were two small houses on that site. Both houses are gone now,
but the old concrete foundations seed the prospects of something new being built there.
With the eye of an artist, Marlene sees the prospect of a small studio on the Rocky Shore, but first, we need to focus on Katie-Lew. This summer, the deal needs to be finalized so this fall we can make a few changes to Katie-Lew, furnish her with a few necessities, and add a couple of comforts to make her feel like home.
In the meantime, I've started this new blog to tell
the stories to come, and we're in the process of waiting and planning for
Katie-Lew, the little blue cottage by the sea.
