We're back at Rose Blanche and Katie-Lew for another season.
It feels great to be back. The town and harbour look very much as we
remembered, but the inside of Katie-Lew looks and feels much more homey than I
remembered.
We brought a full car of stuff with us, the largest item
being a beautiful old desk. Now I have a special spot to write these stories.
Other things on the list are to make some improvements to
the plumbing, install a space-saver room divider, put in a larger window for a
better view of Crow Cove, and get a wifi internet connection.
The plumbing job is going as expected; 2 steps forward and
one step back. A new valve I installed had a leak due to a manufacturing defect,
so had to be replaced. Now with everything turned on again, I've detected drops
of water on 2 connections. I'm hopeful it's a collection of condensation on the
cold metal fitting, but time will tell.
Marlene's using my mother's old sewing machine to sew the
blind for the room divider. The old sewing machine goes back over 60 years to
my earliest memories, and it still runs like a charm.
